Intern architect and designer Xan Hawes, who joined LGA’s team in 2016, has a passion for design that enhances public space, community and quality of life. He earned his M.Arch at Dalhousie University, where his thesis, FUNchitecture: Play as Essential Public Urban Infrastructure, received the Thesis Award. Working at architecture firms in Nova Scotia and Calgary, he continued to explore design strategies for enhancing public space. Before entering the field of architecture, Xan earned a fine arts degree from the University of Guelph. He is an accomplished sculptor, installation artist and performer whose work has been exhibited or staged across Canada. Xan’s creative nature and interest in socially sustainable architecture fuel his enthusiasm for designing a better built environment.
