LGA approached the refurbishment of this 135-unit TCH apartment building and four attached 3-storey townhouses with the goal of re-calibrating the community’s perception of the housing.
This involved creating a more contemporary-looking (and better performing) building envelope for the 1980s residential complex, and designing a welcoming, transparent new entry sequence that links the building to the surrounding streetscape. The building now has a distinctive presence that is in keeping with its role as a threshold into the Alexandra Park community.
Key aspects of the scope of work include:
- Renovations to occupied TCH buildings
- Podium subsurface waterproofing and roofing refurbishment
- Concrete restoration and structural repairs to balconies
- Mold remediation
- New metal siding overcladding
- New balcony guardrails
- New windows and new balcony patio doors
- Roofing repairs to apartment building and new roofing for townhouses
- Conversion of vacant suites into accessible barrier-free units
- New waterproofing membrane at underground parking garage
