Jake began his career as a carpenter and construction supervisor for a number of award-winning architects. By night, he practiced as a graphic designer and artist whose work was commissioned and shown internationally. In 2015 he merged these skills to enter the field of architecture. His experience in the trades and the arts ensures that design intentions are always in balance with the craft of building and quality detailing in his work.

Convinced that architecture lives up to its highest potential when it is undertaken in service of communities, Jake directs his energy toward socially driven projects and strives to find solutions by delving deep into a community’s vision for itself. For his thesis in 2018/2019 Jake travelled throughout the Northwest Territories, talking with Indigenous organizations, community members, and healthcare professionals to imagine more culturally appropriate designs for healthcare architecture in those regions.
