Senior Associate Kris Payne has been with LGA since 2003. A curious, open-minded and attentive listener, she brings a relentless energy and positivity to her work with clients, fabricators, consultants and team members. Kris takes her role as a designer-citizen seriously, striving to create environments that have an impact on how people think, feel and behave, and that increase public awareness of social and political issues. Deeply invested in ways that architecture impacts communities over time, Kris has managed large-scale projects for Toronto Community Housing that include the new Alexandra Park Townhouses and renovations to 20 Vanauley Street, a 140-unit apartment and townhouse complex. She is now Project Architect on the North York Women's Shelter.
Prior to working at LGA, Kris founded a design/build woodworking studio that brought together designers and makers to collaborate on furniture pieces, artwork and installations. As a member of the West-End Food Cooperative, she participates in an urban agricultural movement that is applying thoughtful social and environmental values to urban diets and land use.
